A 7 days safari starts and ends in Kigali. It takes you through the Virunga National Park to explore its amazing mountain gorillas and also participate in a breathtaking adventure at Nyiragongo Mountain. The 7 days tour comprises of two gorilla treks and a night spent at the summit of Nyiragongo Mountain.

Day 5: Nyiragongo Volcano hike
Day 6: Descend from the Volcano and transfer to Goma town

Day 1: Arrival to Kigali
You will be welcomed by our experienced driver guide who will pick you at the airport to a hotel of your choice (Kigali Serena hotel) where you will retire after that tiresome journey.

Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Virunga National Park
After breakfast in the morning, you will be picked by the driver guide from Serena hotel and then set off to Mikeno Lodge in Virunga National Park through Goma town. The lodge provides amazing views of nature that shade off from the rift valley and the Volcanoes of the Mikeno and the Nyiragongo. You will have lunch at the Mikeno Lodge and after rest as you enjoy the clear views of the surrounding areas as you prepare for your thrilling gorilla adventure the next day. Virunga National Park also offers refuge to blue monkeys, baboons, birdlife, colobus monkeys, chimpanzees and many more.

Day 3: First gorilla trek
Following breakfast in the morning, you will set off to Bukima for an early morning briefing from the park official on rules and regulations to be followed while tracking mountain gorillas in the forest. Depending on the gorilla group that will be allocated to you and its location, the trek can take two to six hours for you to find a group of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. You will have only one hour to be with the apes. After, you will return to Bukima Tented Camp for relaxation and lunch. The camp is constructed in such a way that it offers spectacular views of Mount Mikeno in the south towering at an elevation of 4437 meters over the mountain gorilla habitat. Down across the valley is Mount Nyiragongo whose Lava Lake shades off a red glow in the night and this also forms part of your experience.

Day 4: Second gorilla trek
Like the previous trek, you will then change a gorilla group that you are to visit since every gorilla group offers rare experiences. This will help you compare the experiences thereafter but they equally offer lifetime experiences. In the afternoon, you may visit the Frankfurt zoological society which is near the lodge and gives a chance to catch a glimpse of chimpanzees.

Day 5: Mount Nyiragongo hike
Hiking through Nyiragongo volcano starts at the base of the volcano in the morning at around 10:00am after your early morning breakfast. The trek is normally one hour and it can be exciting when you get other visitors and you hike in a group. At the summit, you will find stunning views around especially for the largest Lava Lake. After exploring more about this incredible volcano, you will spend a night at Nyiragongo Cabanas.

Day 6: Transfer to Goma
Enjoy the spectacular summits of the volcano and after breakfast you will start to descend from the mountain. Thereafter you will rest as you refresh from the breathtaking adventure.

Day 7: Return to Kigali International Airport
Breakfast in the morning and after you will set off to Kigali for your scheduled flight back home.
